The 2016 Mentoring Matters Grant Giveaway results are in. 

Huge THANKS to all who participated!

Based on total number of video votes, the following grants will be awarded to our eight finalists:

$10,000 Grand Prize – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (Be a Friend Program)

$4,000 Runner-Up – Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke (El Camino Mentoring Program)

$1,000 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County

$1,000 – Bridges of Hope Mentoring Program

$1,000 – Northtowns Boys and Girls Clubs

$1,000 – Raw Art Works

$1,000 – Ring of Hope Boxing Club

$1,000 – The Garage Community & Youth Center

The goal of this contest is to continue to build awareness around mentoring by providing specific examples of people whose lives have been positively impacted through mentorship. Collectively, we have reached hundreds of thousands of people across CT, NY, MA and PA (and beyond) with this message. Thanks to all who participated in this effort.

Official Rules

First Niagara “2016 Mentoring Matters Grant Giveaway” Official Rules 
No purchase or other consideration necessary to enter.

Eligibility/Entries
You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of entry and a resident of the United States. Employees of First Niagara Bank, N.A. (“First Niagara”) and affiliates and members of each of their families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) and those living in the same household of each are not eligible. By applying for a grant, entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules. Participants may be Producers submitting entries in favor of an Eligible Charity, or may be Eligible Charities. A Producer may submit no more than five (5) entries for the giveaway.

To enter, an eligible participant must:

• Submit a video through this contest page that does not exceed 90 seconds in length;
• In the submission please include the Eligible Charity’s full name.  If the video was made by a person other than an employee or agent of the Eligible Charity acting in his or her capacity as an employee or agent, the submission must also include the full name of the individual or individuals who made the video (each, a “Producer”);
• The nominated organization must be a 501 3(c) that provides youth mentoring services and is headquartered in the state of CT, MA, NY or PA (and “Eligible Charity”)
• If a name or likeness of an individual is included in the entry, entrant must have full permission to use that name or likeness in their video

The “Submission Period” will begin at 12:00 pm (Eastern time) on October 27, 2015 and will end at 5:00 pm (Eastern Time) on December 11, 2015. The “Voting Period” will begin at 12:00 pm (Eastern time) on January 4, 2016 and will end at 11:59 pm (Eastern time) on February 1, 2016.

All entries shall become the property of First Niagara. The entry may not contain any content that is lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, or that otherwise contains inappropriate content or objectionable material as determined by First Niagara in its sole and unfettered discretion. Eligible Charities and Producers of videos submitted in favor of Eligible Charities may be asked to execute releases before receiving an award.  Awards to Eligible Charities will be paid by the First Niagara Foundation, and awards to Producers will be paid by First Niagara Bank.  By applying for an award, each Eligible Charity and Producer irrevocably assigns all right, title and interest in the entry, including all copyright in such entry, to First Niagara. Each Eligible Charity and Producer also: (i) confirms that no third party (other than the Producer(s) identified in the entry) was involved in creation of the entry, and that the entrant has obtained any and all releases and permissions necessary for First Niagara’s use of the entry as contemplated by these rules (including from all individuals whose name or likeness is shown in the entry); and (ii) acknowledges that the entry (including the entrant’s name, image or likeness) may be used for promotion, trade, commercial, advertising or publicity purposes.

Awards
There will be (1) grand prize winner, (1) first runner up and (6) runner up awards. A $10,000 grant will be awarded to the Eligible Charity that was nominated as part of the video submission that receives the most votes. The first runner up (the nominated organization that receives the second highest number of votes) will receive a $4,000 grant, and the other six runners up will each receive $1,000 grants. A $500 award will be awarded to eight Producers who submitted the finalist videos. If more than one Producer produced the video, the $500 award will be split evenly unless the Producers direct otherwise. 

Awarding Prize/Winner Notification
Finalists will be selected by First Niagara based on story submission. Review of all entries will be conducted by First Niagara, the judge of the giveaway, whose decision is final and binding in all matters. The eight finalist videos chosen by First Niagara will be put to a public vote online. Prizes will be awarded based on the number of votes received for each entry. Winner will be contacted through the email account that produced the winning entry, and must arrange to claim the prize at a press event following the prize announcement.

Limitations of Liability
If, for any reason, the giveaway is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited to, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or other causes beyond the control of First Niagara, First Niagara reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the drawing. By accepting an award, Prize Winner agrees to release First Niagara from any and all liability, loss or damage of any kind incurred with respect to the awarding, receipt, possession and/or misuse of the prize or participation in the giveaway.
